Accounting Firm announces grants for financial literacy education

CLEVELAND & AKRON, OHIO– (November 16, 2015) — The Apple Growth Partners Community Outreach Charitable Giving Fund of Akron Community Foundation announces grants to four local non-profits.

Asian Services In Action, (ASIA) Inc. received funding for its Peer Lending Circles – Financial Literacy Classes; Reaching Above Hopelessness and Brokenness Ministries (RAHAB) Inc. for its Back on My Feet program; The Twelve of Ohio Inc. for Independent Living Training; and the United Way of Trumbull County, Inc. for Financial Empowerment of Women.

“We received a diverse group of proposals from a variety of non-profits in Northeast Ohio. As accountants, it’s exciting to be able to fund projects promoting financial literacy,” said Laura Shank, AGP’s marketing director and AGP Fund administrator. “It was our first grant cycle, and it was a great success. We look forward to granting more funds in the future!”

Established in 2009, the Apple Growth Partners Fund of Akron Community Foundation was created to recognize the importance of supporting civic events and philanthropic organizations in the communities in which we serve. As the charitable arm of our Firm, the Apple Growth Partners Fund aims to strengthen non-profits in our community by supporting financial literacy education programming both financially and through volunteerism.
