Healthy growth is the evolution of a company and how we can help our clients achieve their goals and objectives as their business progresses.”

MY CLIENT PHILOSOPHY: My practice focuses on general construction, subcontractors, land developers, home building and property ownership/management. I want to understand and learn as much as I can about a client’s business and their goals. When I started in this niche, I had several contractor clients who took the time to explain their industry. They helped me understand how to obtain changes through local zoning, variables they face when completing land development such as wetlands, working with owners and subcontractors and other issues that have nothing to do with accounting. This knowledge gave me an appreciation for the specific issues these businesses face and the diversity of skills the entrepreneurs possess. It’s been a pleasure working with a client from the start of their business, during good times and bad, as they move to another generation or assisting in the sale of the business.

NOTABLE CLIENT SUCCESSES: My clients have achieved significant tax savings by obtaining the 179D deduction for designers of energy efficient buildings on governmental jobs. It’s one of the rare instances where someone gets a significant tax deduction that is not based on dollars spent.

PROVEN TRACK RECORD: My role regularly extends beyond traditional services. Often I serve as a client’s sounding board to the various business issues they face. In addition, I assist clients when there has been unexpected turnover by helping maintain office functionality until replacements are secured.

WHEN I’M NOT IN THE OFFICE, YOU’RE LIKELY TO FIND ME: Golfing, reading, walking the dog or biking.

ADDITIONAL INSIGHT

What are some issues within your specialty that are commonly overlooked or not addressed by clients? Two things: effective job costing systems for which management can react timely to cost issues; and the best accounting methods available for tax purposes.

What are some of the most pressing issues facing your clients today and how do you add value in helping them tackle them? We help clients make proactive changes in difficult times, such as the economic slowdown four years ago. We also analyze the effect of implementing necessary changes in their operations.
