“Healthy growth means helping businesses grow organically through planning and following up with action.”
MY CLIENT PHILOSOPHY: I truly care about clients I work with and consider them to be true friends. When working with someone, it is important for me to get to know that person and form a strong bond because I believe this type of relationship helps ensure the best service possible.
MY SPECIALTY: I have always been interested in the areas of tax and law. While many think of tax accountants as number crunchers, it is much more than that. My favorite part about working with privately held businesses is helping owners with tax planning and consulting, as well as helping with the everyday business decisions to sustain a healthy and growing business.
NOTABLE CLIENT SUCCESSES: In less than six years, two clients I have worked closely with have tripled in size. Both companies were healthy and started as $10+ million in sales and grew to $30+ million during that time frame. This was achieved by working together to focus on strategic planning to help grow the business.
PROVEN TRACK RECORD: By listening to clients’ needs and really learning about their businesses, I am able to suggest tax planning techniques that net large tax savings. With the use of mid-year and year-end client meetings, I am able to better understand a client’s business position, suggest proactive strategies, identify problems early and plan for the future.
OUT OF THE OFFICE: I have become addicted to golf and can be found playing all over Northeast Ohio. I love spending time with my family and friends whenever I’m not hard at work.
ON MY BUCKET LIST: A dream vacation to Fiji is at the top of my list.
WHAT INSPIRES ME: I am married to my beautiful wife, Jane, and we are the proud parents of our first child — a beautiful daughter named Elizabeth.
What are some issues within your specialty that are commonly overlooked or not addressed by clients? Why are these important to address? Some of the most commonly overlooked issues with manufacturers are some of the great tax benefits afforded to them: research and development credits, domestic production activities deduction (DPAD), captive insurance companies, and accelerated depreciation on fixed asset purchases. These are important to address because of the vast tax savings and improved cash flow that can come as a result of these tax-saving techniques.
What are some of the most pressing issues facing your clients today and how do you add value in helping them tackle them? Many of my clients today are facing roadblocks when trying to expand into different geographical markets. There are hurdles that arise when trying to expand into different states or countries. I am very experienced in helping clients navigate these issues and I have assisted with the various business and tax issues that arise in these areas.
