MY GROWTH STRATEGY: My client philosophy is to be an extension of my client’s business rather than someone who simply prepares the tax returns or financial statements. Almost as if I am working directly on their finance team. This is the best way to add value and see all the opportunities for healthy growth. I also strive to develop friendships with my clients. I care about their businesses and want to see them succeed. At the end of the day, establishing a trusted relationship is the most important part of the job in my eyes.
MY SPECIALTY: My focus is manufacturing clients. I grew up in Youngstown. I come from a blue collar family and manufacturing and related industries have provided my family a living for generations. By working with closely held manufacturers, I am given the opportunity to help people just like my own family.
NOTABLE CLIENT SUCCESSES: We take advantage of all opportunities and carefully look to see what else could be possible. Recently, we won the business of a small manufacturer in the Akron area. While reviewing the tax returns prepared by the previous accountant, we discovered several tax saving opportunities not taken by the previous accountant. By taking advantage of various tax credits and deductions, and simply amending a few returns, we were able to apply for over $50,000 of federal and state refunds over a three-year period.
PROVEN TRACK RECORD: I am not the average accountant. I enjoy people and love interacting. I am always willing to have conversations and discussions that allow me to learn my client’s business. By doing so, I am able to develop a plan to both save tax and develop their Healthy Growth strategy.
What are some issues within your specialty that are commonly overlooked or not addressed by clients? I work with a lot of closely held businesses that have previously used very small accounting firms. Those smaller firms may not have the resources AGP has available or the ability to stay as up-to-date on current tax laws. I recommend that everyone get a second opinion. We have been able to save significant tax by taking advantage of various credits and deductions that have been missed by other firms.
What are some of the most pressing issues facing your clients today and how do you add value in helping them tackle them? Keeping up with the ever changing laws and regulations is a daunting task for small businesses with many other demands on their time. I dedicate countless hours of research and continuing education to remain up-to-date on changes in laws and tax code.

When I’m not at work: I live in Akron with my beautiful wife Megan and our son Owen. We both are from northeastern Ohio and both graduated from the University of Akron. I enjoy golfing and playing many of the courses in our region. We are proud of this area and have no plans of ever leaving.
