What does “leadership” mean to you?
When I think of leadership I feel you have soldiers following you into battle. You are compassionate, constructive and bring your soldiers along so they can become Generals. Being humble and having empathy when making decisions in the best interest of the Firm.

What does it mean for you to be part of the OC leadership team, and how do you all work together?
Being part of a professionally managed firm is great. And having the owners putting trust in me to help lead the firm to 100 million is a great honor. The group all work together and most importantly trust each other with no EGO. We all make decisions in the best interest of the Firm and not for any one individual or self.

What is the most rewarding part of being a leader?
Seeing the growth of our staff and helping our communities.

How do you practice leadership in your daily life?
Communication and educating the firm employees.

How do you refine your leadership skills?
Training outside CPE but also learning from other leaders in the firm.

What has been the hardest lesson as a leader?
When a good young employee leaves the Firm. When we lose an up and coming leader it hurts. However, I support them in their decision. Sometimes public accounting isn’t right for them or their family.

Who do you admire as a leader and why?
Abraham Lincoln. He was a leader in one of the most difficult times in US history. He went through a civil war and a lot of division in the country. He made a decision to abolish slavery (very unpopular in the south at the time) but knew it was in the best interest of our country going forward – he made the decision in the best interest of the country and not just one part of the country.

In your opinion, why is our firm’s leadership team different than other CPA firms?
Professionally managed firm at our size. We have invested in the Firm now to grow our people and the Firm. Also, I feel the leadership at AGP has the best interest of AGP and not individual owners or partners.

What would you like prospective employees to know about your leadership style?
Open communication, open door policy and we do listen to our employees when making decisions. However, the decision will always be in the best interest of the Firm.

What would you like business owners/clients/potential clients to know about your leadership style?
Open communication.

A fun fact about yourself for prospective employees and clients to know about you.
I am a twin. It is great having a twin brother. Not only is he my brother but he is my best friend. And we look exactly alike.
