AKRON, Ohio – (December 1, 2018) – Apple Growth Partners (AGP), award-winning accounting and business advisory firm, completed its year-long 75th anniversary celebration by announcing grants to six local non-profits, totaling $75,000 in awarded funds since fund inception.
The Apple Growth Partners Community Outreach Charitable Giving Fund of the Akron Community Foundation was established in 2009 to support area non-profits that provide financial literacy education. Grant recipients this year include Akron Children’s Museum, Habitat for Humanity of Summit County, Junior Achievement of Greater Cleveland, The Salvation Army, Battered Women’s Shelter and Asian Services in Action. The amount of grants awarded to community non-profits in 2018 totaled $15,000, producing the full amount of cumulative grants provided to $75,000. Historically, grants awarded to non-profits range from $1,000 to $2,500. For the first time, the AGP fund committee voted to award the maximum of $2,500 for each selected this year, with the goal of increasing the amount to be requested by each applicant in future years.
“There’s no better way than ending our 75th anniversary year by reaching $75,000 in total donated funds to community organizations,” states Chairman Chuck Mullen. “Upon inception of our charitable giving fund of the Akron Community Foundation, our vision was to help support financial literacy programming and to reach $75,000 of grants awarded in less than a decade is a testament to the philanthropic efforts of our employees.” The financial commitment of AGP employees to the firm’s fund has established a considerable amount for future investment in the community while increasing the amount to be requested starting in 2019.
Along with distributed grants accumulating $75,000 in their 75th year of operation, the firm also compiled a list of community organizations in which employees offer their time and services. The firm is proud to recognize 75 area non-profits, religious institutions, and professional associations that employees donate their time and talents.
